Glossy and matte magazines
With Peecho, you can print magazines in both standard sizes (such as A4 or Letter), and in dynamic (non-standard) sizes. The logic behind dynamic sizing is explained below.
The actual size of your document is less important than its aspect ratio i.e. the width divided by the height. Our system will "read" the first page of your file and use its aspect ratio to display the available sizes per format. We will never cut your content or change the aspect ratio. However, we might change the total size to make it fit in our offerings. We will always do the fitting downwards if we can, so we will only enlarge a document to fit in a product if your document is smaller than the smallest product we have.
Each dynamic format has a minimum and maximum width, and a minimum and maximum height. Anything that falls under this range of width-height combination can be printed. You can find the size range per format on the magazine catalogue.
If the document you supply complies to the following general rules, the checkout will display products that reflect its aspect ratio correctly:
- Its aspect ratio (width/height) should be below 1.54
- Its aspect ratio (width/height) should be over 0.34
- The minimum page count for matte magazines is 16
- The minimum page count for glossy magazines is 20
Both portrait and landscape files are accepted. Please make sure that all the pages in the file have the same dimensions and orientation, or at least the same aspect ratio.
Where is information for the maximum size of magazine that can be printed in black and white in Europe?
I have been told by Maro that I need to change the magazine layout from US Letter to A4.
Is A4 the largest portrait size you do that can be reproduced in black and white in Europe?
Your fast reply would be very helpful.
A4 and US Letter have different aspect ratios and as such, they cannot be compared. A4 size measures at 210mm by 297mm (8.26" by 11.69") whereas US Letter paper measures at 215.9mm by 279.4mm (8.5" by 11"). So you could say that A4 is longer and thinner compared to Letter. They are just different standardized paper sizes.
Below is a photo to help you visualize it. Our EU suppliers are able to print A4 in B&W.
